Why You Should
Get Firefox
Firefox
I have been using Firefox
from the beginning. I was using Firefox
before it was called Firefox.
I love Firefox.
"Why are you ranting on
about Firefox
so?".
Well, I'll start with the obvious stuff and work our way forward from
there!
Design
Firefox
is a thing of beauty, especially when using it with a Linux
Distro. You can customise Firefox
with many different themes and looks.
I personally use a Ubuntu Gnome theme because of the modern simplistic
look.
Functionality
The first thing you notice about Firefox
is the tabs viewing, yes, you
may of seen it before but Firefox
used it before the leading brand.
Firefox
comes with customisable add-ons where you can add things like
FoxyTunes, a Facebook toolbar, A web developer toolbar a ad block
plug-in
or even a torrent client.
History
Firefox
has only been around since 2002, named Phoenix then, but it
derived from Mozilla and Netscape. A few weeks after release it
introduced tab browsing and pop-up/image blockers. Something which was
well before it's time.
Open-Source
The browser is open-source, which means you can read and change the
source code, modify, improve then re-distribute it and it's free. It
is, though, under copyright.
Google
Google and Firefox
go back a long way. A joint-made anti-phishing
program was introduced. Firefox
also gets certain royalties from google.
